Indio, a popular spot for festivals and tourism, often faces accidents along I-10, especially during event seasons. These incidents can affect visitors and disrupt local traffic in this desert city.

Indio, the City of Festivals, is nestled in the Coachella Valley of the Colorado Desert region in Southern California. The city originally began to grow as a halfway point on the railroad between Arizona and Los Angeles, but soon became an agricultural center. The city became a center of date farming in the United States; to this day, it hosts an annual date festival. In 1999, however, the Coachella Valley Music and Arts Festival was founded; the annual festival draws the world’s biggest music stars and bands, hundreds of celebrities, and thousands of concert-goers and music fans to Indio.

Indio has become a center for tourism and world-renowned special events, and the city’s population of over 76,000 has grown 55% since the year 2000.
