Accidents in Commerce, CA

Commerce, an industrial city in Los Angeles County, experiences heavy traffic due to its proximity to major highways and commercial areas. Accidents are common on Interstate 5, Interstate 710 and local roads, especially during rush hours and around freight areas.

City of Commerce, California is aptly-named. In 1887, the Atchison, Topeka & Santa Fe Railway developed a line through a portion of Antonio Maria Lugo’s Rancho San Antonio. With that railroad came industrialization of the surrounding communities. By the 1960s, Los Angeles and neighboring cities were rapidly growing. In order to avoid eventual annexation, the city of Commerce was incorporated in 1960.

From there, city of Commerce has become a key industrial area of East L.A. Although the population numbers around 12,000 any given year, this figure underlies the massive influx of workers through the city during the day. Positioned along Interstates 5 and 710, nestled between Montebello and Huntington Park to the south of East Los Angeles, Commerce is a busy place most days. Adding to the attraction is the Commerce Casino which provides gaming entertainment to millions each year. A small city to be sure, the city of Commerce today earns its name in a big way.
