Thousand Oaks

Known for its beautiful oak trees and suburban charm, Thousand Oaks experiences accidents on its main route, Highway 101. These incidents can affect local commutes and access to the city’s parks and scenic trails.

Situated in the northeast corner of Ventura County, Thousand Oaks, California, is one of the two cities that make up the most populous area of the Conejo Valley. Named for the many oak trees that grow in the area, Thousand Oaks – and nearby Newbury Park – were part of a master-planned city developed by the Janss Investment Company in the 1950’s. It was designed to combine industrial, residential and commercial properties in a way that provides both jobs and recreational opportunities. Today, Thousand Oaks is home to many different industries, with several biotech firms headquartered there. New development and upgrades are underway that should draw in more industry and increase the population.
