Accidents in Imperial Beach, CA
Imperial Beach experiences steady traffic from locals and tourists. Accidents are common on main streets leading to the beachfront and along coastal routes.
Located in the far southwest corner of San Diego County, Imperial Beach is a beach town with an international feel. It is culturally diverse, given its location less than 15 miles from Downtown San Diego and five miles from Tijuana, Mexico. The town was founded in 1887 by Imperial Valley farmers who migrated from the desert climate of Imperial Valley 100 miles to the east seeking cooler weather during summer months. Others came to find work building the iconic Hotel Del Coronado in neighboring Coronado. The town, which was incorporated in 1956, is part of the bi-national San Diego-Tijuana metropolitan area, the largest shared area between the two countries.
