Calabasas

Calabasas, an upscale community in the San Fernando Valley, north of Malibu in the foothills of the beautiful Santa Monica Mountains. Situated within Los Angeles County, this community enjoys a warm, sunny climate.

During the 1800s, ranching and livestock activities occurred in this part of California. The growth of nearby Los Angeles and the arrival of the film industry in Southern California made the area around Calabasas a popular site for shooting Westerns and other entertainment productions.

As the San Fernando Valley developed, more people moved into the vicinity. The City of Calabasas finally incorporated in 1991. Today, the community enjoys a population of slightly more than 22,000. The affluent, well-educated residents enjoy ready access to Los Angeles and the Pacific coastline.

Calabasas sees steady traffic on the Ventura Freeway (US-101). Accidents in this area can disrupt the daily flow for residents and visitors to nearby nature spots.
