Lomita

Lomita, a small city in Los Angeles County, sees moderate traffic, especially during rush hours. Accident often happens on major roads like Pacific Coast Highway and Western Avenue due to commuter congestion and busy intersections.
 
Its name means “little hill” in Spanish, and the city of Lomita combines a small-town atmosphere with a tight connection to the City of Los Angeles. Home to around 20,000 people, Lomita was once part of California’s oil boom. Following the era of oil drilling in the early 20th century, Lomita became an agricultural center. Residents grew celery, strawberries, and other fruits and vegetables.
 
A quiet town, Lomita is nonetheless part of the Los Angeles Unified School District. In Lomita itself, the Railroad Museum recalls the steam engine era of railroading.
