Accidents in Manhattan Beach, CA
Manhattan Beach, a coastal city in Los Angeles County, experiences, moderate traffic, especially during rush hours and weekends. Accidents are frequent on major roads like Sepulveda Boulevard and Pacific Coast Highway as a result of heavy beachgoers traffic and commuter congestion.
Manhattan Beach was once nothing more than a 10-mile beach situated in the area known as Rancho Sausal Redondo. George Peck was owner of a portion of this land on the north side of the beach. Shore Beach was the name Peck chose for his area of the beach. When John Merrill purchased the south side of the area in 1901, he chose the name Manhattan after his hometown in New York City. When the two men were unable to choose the name for the beach, a coin was tossed and Merrill was the lucky winner and Manhattan Beach was officially named. The very same year Merrill built the first structure in the area, a complex later turned into office suites.
