Simi Valley, CA – A 79-year-old Agoura Hills woman was killed, and two other people were hospitalized after a vehicle crashed into the outdoor seating area of a restaurant at a Simi Valley shopping center, authorities said.
The fatal collision occurred at approximately 2:30 p.m. on Monday outside Urbane Cafe, near Tierra Rejada Road and Madera Road.
According to investigators, a white Tesla, operated by a 64-year-old Thousand Oaks woman, was traveling through the shopping center parking lot when the driver attempted to make a right turn but failed to negotiate the turn. The vehicle jumped the curb, struck a woman while walking along the sidewalk, and continued into the restaurant’s outdoor dining area.
Emergency crews found the victim trapped beneath the vehicle. She suffered fatal injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene. Her identity has not been released pending notification of next of kin.
Authorities said four juvenile passengers were in the Tesla at the time of the crash. The driver was hospitalized with moderate injuries, and one juvenile was transported to a hospital with minor injuries. The remaining three children were released to family members.
Police said the incident was not intentional, and investigators are working to determine whether speed, driver impairment, or a mechanical issue contributed to the collision.
