According to the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department, the pileup occurred around 1:20 a.m. on October 8, 2026, on Atlantic Boulevard at Sheila Street near Cudahy.

Commerce, CA – A driver died in a multi-vehicle collision that happened early Thursday morning at an intersection in Commerce, authorities reported.
According to the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department, the pileup occurred around 1:20 a.m. on October 8, 2026, on Atlantic Boulevard at Sheila Street near Cudahy.
An LASD deputy was responding to a medical call for someone unconscious in Cudahy when the patrol vehicle hit another car. The civilian vehicle then struck a third car after the initial impact.
The driver of the vehicle first hit by the deputy’s vehicle died at the scene.
The deputy was hospitalized with minor injuries, and the driver of the third car was not injured.
LASD said the patrol vehicle’s lights and siren were activated at the time of the accident. Other deputies responding to the initial call stopped to render aid to the victims of the collision before Los Angeles County Fire Department personnel responded.
Authorities are investigating the accident.
