Imperial

Imperial is a city in Imperial County and sees moderate traffic primarily from local residents and farm vehicles. Accidents occur commonly on State Route 86 and State Route 111 due to truck activity and during peak travel times.

Located four miles from El Centro, Imperial is home to just over 16,600 residents. Imperial is located less than 90 miles from Tijuana, Mexico, San Diego, CA, and Chula Vista, CA. The town was incorporated on July 12, 1904, although three years earlier there was a post office opened in town. The Imperial Land Company created the town and George Chaffey chose the name.
