County, CA.- A 4-year-old girl was killed and a driver arrested in a Can-Am Accident that occurred in Imperial County on Saturday evening.

According to California Highway Patrol, the incident took place on State Route 78 near Old Mine Road at around 6:20 p.m. on October 18.

The CHP reported that a 36-year-old man was driving a 2024 Can-Am Maverick eastbound in an open desert when he crashed into a raised dirt berm.

The impact caused the vehicle to overturn and a passenger, identified as a 4-year-old girl, was ejected.

The girl was pronounced deceased at the scene.

The driver was arrested on suspicion of driving under the influence of alcohol.

The CHP is handling the investigation.
