One Person Hospitalized After Multi-Car Pileup Caused by an Earlier Deadly Crash on Interstate 880 near 66th Avenue
Oakland, California (July 14, 2023) – The California Highway Patrol said one person was hospitalized with serious injuries after a multi-vehicle collision that happened early Friday morning following an earlier multi-car accident that left one person dead and another injured.
According to CHP, the second collision occurred at around 3:42 a.m. on southbound Interstate 880 just north of the 66th Avenue overcrossing.
Authorities said at around 1:44 a.m., about five vehicles collided in the southbound lanes of I-880 near 66th Avenue.
One person died in the crash, and another was injured.
As emergency crews worked the scene and other vehicles backed up in traffic lanes, a fast-moving driver crashed into those other cars.
The second collision involved about ten vehicles.
At least one person from that accident was transported to the hospital with major injuries.
CHP officers are investigating the collisions.
