Santa Barbara, Calif. – A woman was hit and killed by an Amtrak train in Santa Barbara, Saturday morning according to the Santa Barbara City Fire Department.
The fatal crash happened just before 10 a.m. on the railroad tracks near Cacique and South Quarantina streets.
Firefighters and other emergency personnel responded to the scene and found a woman who had been hit and killed by a northbound Pacific Surfliner, authorities say.
The name of the victim was withheld pending notification of the next of kin.
This this the second incident involving a pedestrian and train on the South Coast this week. A 16-year-old girl died Monday morning after being hit by a train near Hollister Avenue.
