Jane Waweru Dies in Lacey Crash on I-5

Lacey, Washington (November 9, 2023) – The pedestrian who was hit and killed by a vehicle in Lacey on Monday evening has been identified as Jane Waweru, 33, who lived in Tumwater, according to the coroner’s office.
The incident took place on Interstate 5 between Carpenter Road and Marvin Road at about 5:50 p.m. November 6.
Authorities said Waweru entered the northbound side of I-5 and was hit by a car driven by a 48-year-old Idaho man.
Waweru died following the accident.
The driver stayed at the scene and was not suspected of DUI.
All northbound lanes of I-5 were blocked for more than six hours as authorities investigated the crash.
The crash remained under investigation.
