Six People Hospitalized After Northridge Car Crash near Lassen Street and Amestoy Avenue; DUI Suspect Arrested
Los Angeles, California (November 5, 2023) – Six people were injured in a multi-vehicle collision that happened Saturday evening near an intersection in Northridge, the Los Angeles Police Department said.
The pileup was reported around 6:41 p.m. near Lassen Street and Amestoy Avenue.
Three vehicles were involved in the collision.
According to LAPD, the accident happened when one driver drifted over into oncoming traffic.
One person was extricated from their car by emergency personnel.
Six people were taken to hospitals – one with severe injuries and the rest with non-life-threatening injuries.
The cause of the collision was not immediately established but police officers arrested the driver who drifted into oncoming traffic on suspicion of impairment.
The crash happened just hours after another double fatal crash involving another DUI suspect claimed the lives of an off-duty LAPD officer and his passenger. That collision happened around 1:19 a.m. on Roscoe Boulevard near Lindley Avenue in Northridge.
Authorities are investigating.
