1 Dies in 5 Freeway Multi-Vehicle Collision near El Camino Real in Orange County

Orange County, California (October 8, 2023) – Authorities are investigating a fatal multi-vehicle collision that happened in San Juan Capistrano near San Clemente on Sunday morning.

At around 6:33 a.m., the California Highway Patrol responded to reports of a traffic collision on the northbound 5 Freeway near El Camino Real.

The officers arrived and found three vehicles at the accident scene. A man was found lying unresponsive on the freeway next to a vehicle and was pronounced dead at the scene.

The victim was not immediately identified.

An investigation into the accident is underway.
