Wildomar, California (August 6, 2023) – Alicia Gonzalez, 24, of Vista, was injured in a deadly collision early Saturday morning in Wildomar, according to the California Highway Patrol.

The wreck happened on the Temecula Valley (15) freeway just north of Wildomar Trail at around 12:40 a.m. August 5.

CHP said a 23-year-old Mission Hills woman was driving a 2014 Hyundai Genesis at a high rate of speed south on the freeway when she slammed into the back of a Nissan Rogue.

A southbound 2019 Nissan Armada then crashed into the Hyundai, which was disabled in the No. 2 lane.

Gonzalez was a passenger in the Hyundai. Both occupants of the Hyundai were not wearing seatbelts and were ejected.

The driver of the Hyundai died at the scene while Gonzalez was transported to a hospital with major injuries.

The driver of the Armada, Nache Phillips, 47, of Aguanga, had minor injuries.

CHP said the driver of the Hyundai was suspected to have been driving under the influence of alcohol.

The CHP is investigating to determine the cause of the crash.
