According to the California Highway Patrol, the wreck took place around 7:34 p.m. on the southbound 280 Freeway, just north of Bird Avenue.
A green Honda Civic and a white Ford F-150 pickup truck were involved in the accident.
San Jose firefighters responded to the scene and found a male party unresponsive.
The report said one person died in the collision.
Several traffic lanes were closed following the accident.
