CHP Investigating Deadly Crash on SR-162 in Oroville; Woman Killed

, CA – The California Highway Patrol has confirmed that a 77-year-old woman was killed and a juvenile passenger was injured in a single-vehicle crash on Highway 162 in Oroville on Friday afternoon.

The deadly crash happened at about 4:33 p.m. on July 4 on eastbound State Route 162, just east of Loafer Creek Road.

CPH officials said the woman was driving a Chevrolet Trailblazer when, for some reason, she lost control and the vehicle became airborne and left the road. The Trailblazer struck several trees, overturned, and came to rest about 100 feet down a steep embankment.

The 77-year-old female driver was pronounced dead at the scene. A juvenile passenger was transported to a local hospital with minor injuries.

The crash remains under investigation.

Oroville, CA – At least one person died, and at least one other was injured in a car collision that happened Friday afternoon in Oroville, the California Highway Patrol reported.

The incident occurred around 4:33 p.m. on eastbound State Route 162, just east of Loafer Creek Road.

A car veered off the roadway and went about 100 feet down an embankment before overturning onto its roof.

An occupant of the car got trapped inside.

Butte County firefighters and paramedics responded to the scene and found one person unresponsive.

The report said at least one person died in the accident.

At least one other person sustained injuries. A medical helicopter landed on SR-162 to airlift a victim to the hospital.

A juvenile was transported from the scene to Enloe Medical Center with unknown injuries. It was unclear if the juvenile was the one who was airlifted.

Authorities are investigating to determine the cause of the accident.
