Concord, CA. – A 26-year-old woman was killed and a 14-year-old passenger was seriously injured following a two-vehicle collision in Concord Tuesday evening.
According to the California Highway Patrol, the fatal crash happened in the area of Kirker Pass and Hess roads at around 5:26 p.m. on May 20
Authorities said a Ford Fusion and a Toyota Sienna were involved in the collision.
The Ford, operated by a 26-year-old woman, with a 14-year-old boy in the passenger seat, was stopped at the intersection on the westbound Hess Road. Authorities said the woman then tried to turn left onto southbound Kirker Pass Road and drove directly into the path of the Sienna heading northbound on Kirker.
The Ford driver was killed in the crash. Her name has not been released. The woman's passenger – the 14-year-old boy – suffered major injuries and was flown to the hospital.
The driver of the Sienna was hospitalized with minor injuries.
The northbound and southbound lanes of Kirker Pass Road were impacted for several hours as crews and investigators worked at the scene.
The incident remains under investigtion and police said DUI was not a factor.
