Livermore, CA. – The Alameda County Coroner's Office identified the driver who died Tuesday in a head-on collision that happened on Highway 84 in Livermore as Ryan Joshua Aquino Amigable of Oakley.
Amigable's car collided with another vehicle that was involved in a street race with a pickup truck that fled the scene.
The incident transpired around 6:19 p.m. on eastbound Highway 84 west of Ruby Hill Drive and about 3 miles east of the 680 Freeway.
According to the California Highway Patrol, a male driver of a Lexus IS 250 was engaged in a street race with a white 2015 or 2016 GMC Sierra 2500 pickup truck heading westbound.
At the same time, Amigable was driving a Honda Civic eastbound on the highway.
Authorities said, for an unknown reason, the Lexus' driver lost control of the vehicle and veered into the eastbound lanes, colliding head-on with the Honda.
The GMC did not stop but continued west on Highway 84.
Emergency personnel responded and pronounced Amigable dead at the scene. His family has since opened a GoFundMe account to help raise funds for his funeral.
The Lexus' driver was airlifted to Regional Medical Center in San Jose with critical injuries.
An earlier report indicated that one other person was also airlifted to the hospital.
Police officers are looking for the pickup truck that fled the scene. The vehicle was described as a lifted, four-door, heavy-duty truck with black rims and oversized tires. It is equipped with receiver hitch, tow mirrors, and chrome bumpers.

Livermore, CA. – At least one person died, and two others were airlifted to the hospital after a traffic collision that happened Tuesday evening in Livermore, the California Highway Patrol reported.
The wreck occurred around 6:19 p.m. on eastbound Highway 84, about 3 miles east of the 680 Freeway.
According to CHP, a blue Honda Civic and a gray Lexus were involved in the collision. One of the cars was possibly street racing with a white pickup truck prior to the crash.
The Livermore Police Department and the Alameda County Fire Department responded to the scene.
At least one person died in the crash, as per the report.
Two other people sustained injuries that necessitated airlifting to the hospital. One person was airlifted to Washington Hospital in Fremont, and the other to Regional Medical Center in San Jose. Their condition was not mentioned.
The highway was closed in both directions following the collision.
CHP officers are investigating the incident.
