Exeter, CA. – A passenger died, and a driver was injured in a head-on collision involving two minivans that took place Sunday afternoon near an intersection in Exeter.
The collision occurred just before 3 p.m. near N Spruce Road and E Marinette Avenue.
According to the California Highway Patrol, a silver Honda Odyssey and a gold Chrysler Pacifica were involved in the accident.
A preliminary investigation revealed that the Honda was heading north on Spruce Road when it veered into opposing traffic and collided head-on with the oncoming Chrysler.
The Honda stopped in traffic lanes after the wreck, and the Chrysler stopped in a nearby orange orchard.
The driver of the Honda got trapped inside the vehicle.
Emergency personnel responded and pronounced the right front passenger in the Chrysler dead at the scene.
The driver of the Honda was extricated and hospitalized with moderate injuries.
Investigators said intoxication is not believed to be a contributing factor but are looking into whether distracted driving was a factor on the part of the Honda driver.
An investigation into the collision is ongoing.

Exeter, CA – The California Highway Patrol is investigating a deadly two-vehicle crash that happened Sunday afternoon at an intersection in Exeter.
The fatal crash happened at about 2:59 p.m. at the intersection of N Spruce Road and E Marinette Avenue.
According to the CHP, a brown Chrysler Pacifica and a blue vehicle were involved in a head-on crash.
At least one person died in the incident.
It was not immediately clear if anyone else was injured.
The crash is under investigation.
