Innocent Driver Killed in Sacramento Police Chase Crash Identified

Sacramento, CA. – The family of the innocent driver who died in a multi-vehicle pileup involving a suspect being pursued by police identified the victim as 30-year-old Nguyen Huynh Huu Duc, or Duc Nguyen.

Nguyen, a Sacramento resident, immigrated to the U.S. from Vietnam four years ago for a better life. He was studying engineering and was also working as a DoorDash driver at the time of the crash.

The incident happened shortly after 10:15 a.m. on Road and Greenhaven Drive.

According to the Sacramento Police Department, the multi-vehicle crash was triggered by a domestic violence suspect who led police officers on a chase.

Police officers had initially responded to the 7300 block of Farm Dale Way after a caller reported she was a victim of domestic violence last weekend and she wanted to get her belongings from a home she believed the suspect may be.

When officers arrived, they located the suspect in a vehicle near the home.

The officers attempted to pull over the driver but the suspect took off, eventually turning westbound on Florin Road.

The suspect then crashed into seven cars at the intersection of Greenhaven Drive.

Nguyen was in one of the cars and died from his injuries.

The suspect, identified as 33-year-old Daniel Cunningham of Sacramento, attempted to flee the scene on foot but was apprehended.

He was taken to the hospital before being booked into jail for a parole violation, domestic violence, and felony pursuit charges. He could also face murder or manslaughter charges following the collision.

Sacramento, CA. – One person died after a police pursuit ended in a multi-vehicle crash on Saturday morning in Sacramento.

According to the Sacramento Police Department, the accident happened around 10:15 a.m. at the intersection of Florin Road and Greenhaven Drive.

Police on patrol reportedly found a domestic violence suspect with an outstanding warrant of arrest in a vehicle in the area.

The suspect, Daniel Cunningham, 33, fled leading a high-speed chase westbound on Florin Road.

A short time later, the suspect's vehicle collided with multiple vehicles.

An innocent driver was killed in the accident.

Cunningham was apprehended after attempting to flee the crash scene on foot. He was booked on multiple charges including parole violation, domestic violence and felony pursuit.

The California Highway Patrol is investigating the accident.
