Lompoc, CA. – 32-year-old Joseph Isaac Medina was the driver who died after his pickup truck rolled over Wednesday afternoon in Lompoc, the Santa Barbara County Sheriff's Office Coroner's Bureau reported.
The accident occurred around 12:30 p.m. on the 3200 block of West Ocean Avenue, west of Douglass Avenue.
Lompoc and Santa Barbara County fire personnel responded to the scene and found a 2018 Chevrolet pickup truck overturned in a dry concrete irrigation canal after it veered off the roadway.
Medina, also known as Big Joe, was ejected in the crash.
Paramedics attempted lifesaving measures but the driver died at the scene.
Medina's family on a GoFundMe page said he was the “heart and soul behind the beloved taco truck, The Birria Boyz”.
He was the founder and mastermind behind the business inspired by his passion for food, family, and community, according to his family.
Police officers are investigating the incident.

According to the California Highway Patrol, the accident happened around 12:20 p.m. on West Ocean Avenue near Douglas Avenue.
A vehicle reportedly veered off the road, overturned, and rolled into a dry concrete irrigation canal.
The driver was killed in the crash.
Police say the driver was the only occupant of the car.
