The deadly collision occurred at about 9:10 p.m. on Monday, July 14, 2025, on southbound 15 Freeway, south of Hodge Road near Barstow.

Bartow, CA – A man was killed after a big rig slammed into a stalled vehicle on Interstate 15 in unincorporated San Bernardino County on Monday night.
The deceased driver has since been identified as Robert Matiran, a 56-year-old Corona resident.
The deadly collision occurred at about 9:10 p.m. on Monday, July 14, 2025, on southbound 15 Freeway, south of Hodge Road near Barstow.
CHP said Matiran was operating a 2023 Honda Civic when, for reasons still under investigation, the vehicle stalled in the No.3 traffic lane.
As per the CHP, a 2023 Volvo tractor-trailer, operated by a 47-year-old man from Washington, Pennsylvania, then slammed into the Honda from the rear.
Both vehicles drove across the southbound lanes and into the center median dividing the freeway after the collision.
Matiran suffered fatal injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene. The driver of the Volvo was not hurt.
The crash remains under investigation.
