According to the California Highway Patrol, the incident occurred around 8:56 p.m. on southbound Interstate 605 near Telegraph Road.
A sedan struck a pedestrian under unclear circumstances.
The victim died in the accident.
The HOV and Nos. 1 and 2 lanes were closed following the crash.
CHP officers are investigating the cause of the collision.
