The wreck took place around 4:50 p.m. on northbound Interstate 680, just north of the Crow Canyon Road off-ramp.
A motorcycle collided with another vehicle under unclear circumstances.
The rider and the bike were blocking traffic lanes after the crash.
The San Ramon Valley Fire Protection District responded to the scene.
One person was taken to the hospital with major injuries.
The Nos. 2, 3, and 4 lanes were blocked following the accident.
CHP is investigating the cause of the collision.
