The deadly collision happened at about 3:55 p.m. on June 4, 2025, on northbound Highway 101 near milepost 149.

Lincoln County, OR – The Oregon State Police is investigating a deadly two-vehicle traffic collision that claimed the life of one person and left two other people injured in Lincoln County on Wednesday afternoon.
OSP identified the deceased party as Jonathan Joseph Channels, 23, of Waldport.
The deadly collision happened at about 3:55 p.m. on June 4, 2025, on northbound Highway 101 near milepost 149.
According to OSP, Jonathan Channels was driving a Ford Taurus southbound on Highway 101 when, for some reason, his vehicle crossed over the center line into the opposite traffic lane where it collided with a white Ram 2500, driven by 54-year-old Kevin Michael Nelsen of Santa Rosa, CA.
Channels was pronounced deceased at the scene.
Nelsen and his passenger, Nicholas Nelsen, 38, also from Santa Rosa, CA, were transported to a local hospital with minor injuries.
The highway was shut down for about four hours as crews worked at the scene.
The incident remains under investigation.
