Fresno County, CA. – 19-year-old Gonzalo Nicanor Santiago of Exeter died in a collision involving a Fresno County truck that happened Wednesday morning near Selma, the Fresno County Coroner's Office reported.
An earlier report by authorities had said the victim was 24 years old from Visalia.
The crash occurred around 5:30 a.m. on eastbound Mountain View Avenue near Clovis Avenue.
Investigators said Santiago was driving a Toyota Corolla westbound on Mountain View Avenue when, for an unknown reason, he lost control and veered into the eastbound lane.
The car collided with a Fresno County Peterbilt truck driven eastbound by a 39-year-old man employed by the county.
Both vehicles went off the roadway and came to a stop in a nearby orchard.
Emergency personnel transported Santiago to the hospital, where he later died from his injuries.
The truck driver was not hurt.
An investigation into the crash is ongoing.

Fresno County, CA – The California Highway Patrol has confirmed that a 24-year-old Visalia man who was critically injured after crashing into a trailer carrying an asphalt paving machine at an intersection near Selma on Wednesday morning has died.
Authorities said the Visalia man was driving a Toyota Corolla westbound on Clovis Avenue when he lost control of his vehicle and veered into the path of the tractor-trailer operated by a Fresno County employee.
The two vehicles collided and went off the roadway into a nearby orchard, police said.
The man suffered critical injuries and was transported to Community Regional Medical Center where he later died. His name has not been released.
The 39-year-old county employee was not hurt.
The crash remains under investigation.
