Glendale, AZ – The police has identified a male motorist from Peoria who was killed in a two-vehicle collision early Monday morning on Loop 101 in Glendale as Dayden Mathew Samarripa.
According to the Arizona Department of Public Safety, the incident was reported on Loop 101 at milepost 20, near 51st Avenue just after 3 a.m. on June 2.
Due to heavy rains in the area, a passenger car hydroplaned and hit the left concrete median. At the same time, a second vehicle also hydroplaned, went sideways and slammed into the first vehicle.
Samarripa, who was the driver of a second vehicle was rushed to the hospital, where he died while receiving treatment. No other injuries were reported.
The westbound lanes of the freeway was shut down during the on-scene investigation.
No additional information about the accident was available.
The crash remains under investigation.
