The deadly crash happened around 3:30 a.m. on eastbound Interstate 580 at Interstate 80 by Buchanan Street
Albany, CA – A man is dead following a three-vehicle crash on Interstate 580 near the Albany area early Friday morning, according to the California Highway Patrol.
The Alameda County Coroner identified the deceased driver as Daniel Alejandro Oliva Morales, 40, of Oakland.
The deadly crash happened around 3:30 a.m. on eastbound Interstate 580 at Interstate 80 by Buchanan Street.
Authorities said a silver Hyundai, operated by Daniel Marales, was struck by a Toyota Camry operated by an El Cerrito resident. The impact caused the to fall off the freeway overpass and landed upside down on Buchanan Street below.
Authorities said a big rig was also involved in the crash.
Morales was killed in the crash.
Authorities learned that the El Cerrito driver had been driving recklessly prior to the crash. CHP arrested the driver on suspicion of driving under the influence
The incident remains under investigation.
