The driver of the Toyota RAV4 involved in the crash, identified as 62-year-old Gary Archer of Costa Mesa, remained at the scene after the accident. He was arrested on suspicion of driving under the influence.

Huntington Beach, CA. – 85-year-old Caryl Margulies was identified as the woman who was initially reported missing but was fatally struck by a DUI driver near an intersection in Huntington Beach, the Huntington Beach Police Department reported.
Margulies, who suffered from dementia, had previously been reported missing several times and was last seen in the area of Reef Lane and Saline Drive on Saturday, July 12.
Authorities said around 6 p.m. the same day, police officers responded to Brookhurst Street and Crailet Drive after they were notified about a collision involving a pedestrian.
The victim, now identified as Margulies, was found unconscious in the roadway. She was rushed to a nearby hospital, where she was pronounced dead.

A preliminary investigation revealed that Archer was driving north on Brookhurst Street when he hit Margulies south of Crailet Drive.
