Phoenix, AZ.- A woman was killed in an accident that took place in Phoenix early Monday morning, according to the Phoenix Police Department.
The incident happened on 27th Avenue and Pierson Street at about 2:15 a.m. June 30.
According to police, a minivan was traveling northbound on 27th Avenue when it hit Bilgee Elamin, 24, who was walking across the street outside of a crosswalk.
Elamin was taken to a hospital, where she was pronounced deceased the next day.
The driver, identified as Deanna Shugart, 45, was arrested on suspicion of DUI following the incident.
The investigation is ongoing.
