Police responded to reports of a suspected DUI motorist on the highway and as the officers tried to stop them, the driver fled the area
Petaluma, CA.- The teen who was killed in a rollover crash in Petaluma on Saturday night has been identified as Aldo Rodriguez Cazarez, 14, of Novato.
According to the Petaluma Police Department, the incident took place on Lakeville Highway on Saturday, July 19.
Police responded to reports of a suspected DUI motorist on the highway and as the officers tried to stop them, the driver fled the area.
The officers pursued the suspect but the Kia Sol he was driving rolled over and crashed shortly after.
Three passengers were ejected from the Kia as it rolled over.
One of the passengers, identified as Cazarez, was killed in the accident.
Two other boys in the vehicle, aged 15 and 16, were transported to hospital for treatment of their injuries.
The suspect, identified as a 17-year-old from San Rafael, was also hospitalized and was expected to face charges of vehicular manslaughter, DUI, and evading.
An investigation into the collision is ongoing.
