Abel Baldarez Killed in Tucson Motorcycle Crash on East Escalante Road and South Houghton Road

, AZ.- Abel Baldarez, 53, was killed in a motorcycle collision in Tucson on Friday afternoon, according to the Pima County Sheriff's Department.

The accident took place on East Escalante Road and South Houghton Road just after noon on May 23.

According to investigators, Baldarez was splitting lanes in his Harley-Davidson traveling north on Houghton Road when he failed to stop for a red light and collided with a Hyundai Sonata that was making a left turn at the intersection.

Baldarez was not wearing a helmet and was rushed to a hospital, where he was pronounced deceased shortly before 7 p.m.

The driver of the Sonata was unhurt and stayed at the scene.

Authorities reported that impairment was not suspected to have played a role in the incident.

The investigation is ongoing.
