Thousand Oaks, CA. – Two California Highway Patrol officers were injured when a suspected DUI driver crashed into their patrol vehicle early Thursday morning in Thousand Oaks.
The incident occurred just before 3 a.m. on Moorpark Road north of Highway 101.
According to CHP, two officers were in a patrol vehicle stopped in the far-right lane of Moorpark Road with their emergency lights and left directional arrow on.
At the same time, a 43-year-old Thousand Oaks man was driving a Nissan northbound on Moorpark. The driver failed to slow down and slammed into the back of the patrol car.
The two officers in the patrol vehicle and the civilian driver complained of pain after the crash.
The man was arrested and booked into the Ventura County Jail on suspicion of DUI with injury and driving with a blood alcohol level of 0.08%. His bail was set at $50,000. He is expected to appear in Ventura County Superior Court on May 27.
