County, OR – One person was killed after a vehicle crashed along Highway 101 in Lincoln County Sunday evening, according to the Oregon State Police.

The deadly crash happened at about 6:09 p.m. on June 8 on Southbound Highway 101 near Seal Rock.

Authorities said a motorist was traveling southbound on Highway 101 in a gray Toyota Matrix when, for unknown reasons, the vehicle left the roadway and struck guide wires on the south side of the embankment, before crashing into a tree.

The driver of the vehicle was pronounced dead at the scene. Police said the driver was alone in the vehicle at the time of the crash.

The incident caused delays on the highway for approximately four hours as crews and investigators worked at the scene.

The accident is under investigation.
