1 Dead, 4 Injured in Rear-End Crash on I-5 Near Ridgefield

Ridgefield, WA – One person was killed and four others were injured after two vehicles collided on near Ridgefield early Saturday morning.

The crash happened at about 4:52 a.m. on July 5 on I-5.

Authorities said a vehicle rear-ended another car in the first lane of I-5 and then drove across the second and third lanes and struck a cable barrier before it came to rest on the left shoulder.

The impact caused the second car to leave the roadway and travel through a Washington Department of Transportation fence, coming to rest on Delfel Road.

WSP said a passenger in the first vehicle was not wearing a seatbelt and died in the crash.

A second passenger in the car was transported to PeaceHealth Southwest Washington Medical Center. The passenger was also not wearing a seatbelt at the time of the crash.

According to WSP, the driver of the first car, who now faces charges of vehicular homicide and vehicular assault, was also injured in the crash and was taken to PeaceHealth Southwest Washington.

 The second driver and his passenger were also injured and were taken to PeaceHealth Southwest Washington Medical Center. The two were wearing seatbelts at the time of the incident.

The crash remains under investigation.
