The accident occurred at 19th Avenue and Judah Street.
San Francisco police and paramedics responded to the scene and found the victim lying on the ground with life-threatening injuries.
The pedestrian was taken to the hospital for treatment.
The driver of the car stayed at the scene and cooperated with investigators.
Impairment is not thought to be a contributing factor.
