Covina, CA. – 17-year-old Alexander Lopez, a student of the Azusa Unified School District, has been identified by the medical examiner as the cyclist who died after being hit by a pickup truck Monday morning in Covina.
Lopez, a Covina resident, was a student at Sierra High School, Azusa USD reported.
The student was on September 30 riding a bicycle in the 1000 block of West Cypress Street near Northview High School when he was hit by a white pickup truck around 7:23 a.m.
It was unclear if Lopez was on his way to the school located at 1040 East Gladstone Street in Azusa.
The teen was thrown from his bicycle after he was struck by the vehicle that was traveling east in the No. 2 lane.
Lopez was pronounced dead at the scene.
The driver involved was not arrested, but authorities are investigating.

Covina, CA.- A bicyclist was killed in a crash that happened in Covina on Monday morning, according to the authorities.
The incident occurred on West Cypress Street near Homerest Avenue shortly before 7:30 a.m. September 30.
The authorities said a man riding a bicycle was hit by a vehicle under unclear circumstances.
The man was pronounced dead at the scene.
The driver of the involved vehicle stayed at the scene after the accident.
The cause of the crash is under investigation.
