According to according to the Irwindale Police Department the deadly collision happened at about 8:30 p.m. July 9, near Arrow Highway and Rivergrade Road.

Irwindale, CA. – A bicyclist was killed following a traffic collision involving a stolen vehicle on Tuesday evening in Irwindale, according to the Irwindale Police Department.

The accident happened around 8:30 p.m. near Arrow Highway and Rivergrade Road.

Police said that a man identified as 29-year-old Jonathan Calixto of stole a vehicle that appeared to be a Land Rover from a Toyota dealership in the 3500 block of Peck Road in .

Officials spotted the car and began a chase but canceled it after a minute.

Several minutes later, Calixto struck a man riding a near Arrow Highway and Rivergrade Road in Irwindale.

The cyclist was declared dead at the accident scene.

Police said Calixto got out of his vehicle and fled on foot, He was later arrested and is facing a murder charge.

An investigation is ongoing.
