According to the Santa Barbara County Fire Department, the crash happened at around 2:15 p.m. December 16, in the 2600 block of East Clark Avenue, east of Presquile Road.
The preliminary investigation revealed a 2007 Honda Fit was eastbound on Clark Avenue and came to a stop in lanes attempting to make a left turn when it was rear-ended by a 2020 Chevrolet Silverado driven by Santa Maria resident Andres Perez.

The truck slammed into the right side of the Honda, killing a passenger in the right front seat.
The driver of the Honda was transported to Marian Regional Medical Center, where he later died due to his injuries.
