The California Highway Patrol and the San Bernardino County Fire Department responded to the scene and found a pickup truck and a sedan involved in the crash.
Phelan, CA. – Five people were critically injured in a fiery car accident that happened Friday night on Highway 138 in Phelan, authorities said.
The wreck was reported around 9 p.m. at the sharp curve on the highway about 1-2 miles from Interstate 15.
The California Highway Patrol and the San Bernardino County Fire Department responded to the scene and found a pickup truck and a sedan involved in the crash.
Both vehicles had heavy front-end damage and were fully engulfed in flames. Several people were lying down in the roadway.
Five ground ambulances and a medical helicopter were requested to respond to the scene. The air ambulance was later canceled for an unknown reason.
Five people were taken to hospitals with critical injuries.
Highway 138 was closed in both directions following the collision.
CHP officers are investigating the crash.

San Bernardino, CA. – One person was seriously injured in a traffic collision Friday night on Highway 138.
The CHP responded to the wreck at around 9 p.m. on State Route 138 at mile marker 16.9.
Two vehicles collided in the area in unclear circumstances, causing one of the cars to be fully engulfed.
One person suffered severe injuries.
