Seattle, WA – The King County Medical Examiner's Office has identified a woman killed in a suspected DUI car crash on Highway 509 in Seattle late Saturday night as Cordelia Ann Chen-Gilchrist, 53, of Seattle.
According to the Washington State Patrol, the wreck happened at around 11:25 p.m. on February 22 on State Route 509 at 128th Street.
Reportedly, a 26-year-old Seattle man was driving a 2007 Jeep Grand Cherokee at a high rate of speed on the highway when he struck a 2011 Toyota 4Runner operated by a 58-year-old Seattle man.
The impact caused the 4Runner to hit a tree.
Chen-Gilchrist who was the passenger of 4Runner sustained injuries and was taken to Harborview Medical Center, where she succumbed to her injuries.
The driver and the passenger of the 4Runner were uninjured.
The suspected impaired driver of the Cherokee was hospitalized with injuries and now faces multiple charges, including vehicular homicide, DUI, and eluding police. Two 16-year-old passengers in his vehicle were not injured.
An investigation is underway.
