Stanislaus County, CA – Four people are dead following a deadly two-vehicle traffic collision on Highway 165 in Turlock on Sunday morning.
The accident happened at about 9:25 a.m. on State Route 165 at Greenway Avenue and involved a 2003 Jeep SUV and a 2008 Infinity sedan.
A preliminary investigation revealed that a 22-year-old man from Modesto was driving the Infiniti northbound on Highway 165 approaching the intersection with Greenway Avenue at “a high rate of speed”.
The Jeep SUV, operated by a 54-year-old man, was westbound on Greenway and was stopped at a stop sign at 165. The speeding Infiniti drove into the intersection and struck the left side of the SUV.
The 22-year-old Modesto man operating the Infiniti was pronounced dead at the scene.
The driver of the SUV was also pronounced dead at the scene. There were four passengers in the SUV at the time of the crash. A 45-year-old female front-seat passenger was pronounced dead at the scene. A 16-year-old left backseat passenger was seriously injured and was rushed to the hospital where she was pronounced dead.
Two other passengers – aged 16 and 19 years – were hospitalized with major injuries.
The identities of the victims have not been released.
The accident remains under investigation.

According to the California Highway Patrol, the accident happened around 9:26 a.m. on Highway 165 near Greenway Avenue.
A white SUV and a second vehicle were involved in the collision. However, the cause of the accident was not immediately determined.
