Orcutt, CA. – Four people were injured, two critically, in a traffic collision involving a big rig and a sedan that happened Saturday afternoon at an intersection near Orcutt.
According to the California Highway Patrol, the accident was reported a few minutes before 4 p.m. at Telephone Road and Clark Avenue near the Lake Marie neighborhood.
A big rig and a Honda Accord were involved in the crash.
The Santa Barbara County Fire Department responded to the scene and extricated two people trapped inside the Honda with critical injuries. Two other patients sustained minor to moderate injuries.
AMR transported one male patient to Santa Maria Airport from where he was airlifted by a Calstar medical helicopter to Santa Barbara Cottage Hospital. The other patients were transported to Marian Regional Medical Center in Santa Maria.
Investigators said the Honda was possibly driving recklessly prior to the crash. The big rig was transporting crude oil at the time of the accident but there was no spill.

Santa Maria, CA. – One person was seriously injured in a collision involving a big rig on Saturday afternoon in Santa Maria.
At around 3:55 p.m., the California Highway Patrol responded to reports of a car accident in the area of Telephone Road and Clark Avenue.
A silver Honda Accord and a big rig were involved in the collision. The events leading up to the accident were not immediately established.
One person was seriously injured in the accident and was transported to the hospital for treatment.
More details about the crash were not released.
An investigation into the accident is underway.
