Ventura, CA. – Two men died in a wrong-way collision involving a DUI driver that happened early Saturday morning in Ventura, the California Highway Patrol said.
21-year-old Evan John Bouchard of Oxnard was arrested following the accident.
CHP officers said Bouchard was driving a Volkswagen Jetta southbound in the northbound lanes of Highway 101 near Seaward Avenue.
The Volkswagen collided head-on with a Nissan Versa moments later at around 2:26 a.m.
The occupants of the Nissan, a 52-year-old man and a 55-year-old man, both from Santa Barbara, were pronounced dead at the scene.
Bouchard was taken to the hospital with minor injuries. He was later arrested and booked into the Ventura County Jail on suspicion of driving while intoxicated, causing injury and gross vehicular manslaughter while intoxicated.

Ventura, CA. – At least one person died in a wrong-way collision that took place early Saturday morning in Ventura, the California Highway Patrol said.
The accident was reported around 2:26 a.m. on northbound Highway 101 near Seaward Avenue.
According to the CHP report, a car was traveling southbound in the northbound lanes of the highway when it collided head-on with another vehicle.
The Ventura Police Department and the Ventura County Fire Department responded to the scene and blocked the northbound lanes of the highway.
One person was pronounced dead at the scene.
Both vehicles were towed away from the scene with major front-end damage.
CHP is investigating the accident.
