A tow truck and a red Toyota Tundra were involved in the crash.
La Mesa police responded to the scene shortly after the collision.
The tow truck driver hit his head in the crash. The motorist was evaluated by responding paramedics for minor injuries, but it was unclear if he was hospitalized.
Authorities said drugs or alcohol may have contributed to the collision.
