Teen Severely Injured in Encinitas E-bike Accident on El Camino Real
Encinitas, California (June 23, 2023) – A 15-year-old boy was seriously injured after a collision in Encinitas Thursday evening.
According to the San Diego County Sheriff’s Department, the crash was reported shortly before 6 p.m. on South El Camino Real.
Per the report, the teen was riding a northbound e-bike on South El Camino Real when for unknown reasons, he veered into the path of a work van, causing a collision.
The teen sustained major injuries and was transported to Scripps Memorial Hospital La Jolla for treatment.
The van driver was not injured, remained at the site, and cooperated with the investigators.
The identity of the boy was not immediately released.
No more information about the bicycle crash was provided.
An investigation to determine the cause of the incident is ongoing.
