Student, Driver Injured in Yucca Valley School Bus Accident at Onaga Trail and Valley Vista Trail
Yucca Valley, California (August 24, 2023) – A child was injured in a collision involving a Morongo Unified School District bus on Wednesday afternoon in Yucca Valley.
The accident was reported around 1 p.m. on Onaga Trail at Valley Vista Avenue, according to the California Highway Patrol.
The MUSD school bus carrying 28 children was traveling westbound on Onaga when it was hit by a southbound Nissan Murano that failed to yield to a stop sign at the intersection.
The impact of the collision sent the bus off the roadway onto a private property where it struck a parked 2014 Chevrolet Cruz.
The bus driver and a 13-year-old student suffered minor injuries and were transported to the hospital.
Some students were picked from the scene by their parents while others were transported on a new bus.
More details about the accident were not released.
An investigation into the accident is underway.
